We are pleased to announce that the School of Public Health will be hosting a roundtable panel discussion on “Healthy Cities in a Healthy World: Challenges and Opportunities for the Next Decade" on 18 December 2017. As one of the most important events in our year-long Roundtable Series, this panel discussion features a consortium of individuals from interested groups within and outside of the University who will discuss the challenges and opportunities of making megacities healthier, greener, more livable and sustainable.
In the 21st century, the world’s population is rapidly increasing with more than half living in cities. The panel will discuss issues of critical importance to health in cities, such as urbanisation, non-communicable diseases, physical activity, mental health and well-being, pollution, built environment and health systems, climate change, ageing, etc. and what might be faced and done over the next decade as these issues converge in cities.
