Fang Fang joined the School of Public Health in 2018 where she will be teaching courses and tutorials for the forthcoming BASc degree in Global Health and Development.

She is currently a doctoral candidate (all but dissertation) in the program of TransGlobal Health at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands jointly with the Barcelona Centre for International Health Research (ISGlobal) in Spain. This project has been funded by the Erasmus Mundus fellowship in Europe, the EFEO fieldwork fellowship in France, as well as the PhD fellowship by UNU-IIGH.

Her doctoral project seeks to understand the understudied effects of multi-layer influences on youth’s acquisition of dietary and nutritional behaviors, its formation and transformation, upon their frequent mobility between countryside and cities in Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. This project aligns well with her long-standing research interests in the relationship between social transition and its broad impact on individual and population wellbeing.

Prior to her PhD, she obtained a M.Sc. in Global Health Science from Oxford University and a B.A. in Sociology from Shanghai University China. She has also studied at UC Berkeley and University of Minnesota as an exchange student.
