The School of Public Health (SPH) of the LKS Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong was established in 2004. In celebration of the 20th anniversary in 2024, we are organising a Mascot Nicknaming Competition. Members of the SPH community are cordially invited to participate in this Competition and mark this important milestone. Winning entries may be adopted in the publicity campaigns of the SPH 20th anniversary and beyond.


Eligibility
All members of the HKU School of Public Health (e.g. current staff, students and alumni) are welcome to join the Competition on individual basis.


Submission Requirements

  • Entries could either be a Chinese nickname or an English nickname
  • Each participant can only submit ONCE with a maximum of two entries
  • Each entry must come with a brief description (a maximum of 100 words in corresponding language) to elaborate the concept behind
  • The nickname(s) should be gender neutral


Prize
Two prizes will be awarded:

  • Winner (Chinese entry) – Hotel E-voucher of HKD1,000
  • Winner (English entry) – Hotel E-voucher of HKD1,000


Remarks:

  1. A participant who submits a bilingual entry may be awarded Hotel E-voucher of HKD2,000 if they win both the Chinese and the English entries
  2. Shall there be multiple winning entries with the same mascot nickname, the prize will be shared proportionally among the winners. The School of Public Health reserves the right for prize allocation


Judging Criteria
We are looking for entries that demonstrate creativity and originality, alignment with the mission and vision of the School, and formation of School identity.


Judging Panel
The judging panel will be comprised of faculty and staff, student and alumni of SPH and HKUMed.

The winning entries will be endorsed by the Director of the School of Public Health.

30 November 2023 (Thursday) at 5pm

Terms & Conditions

  • The School of Public Health will own the copyright of the winning nickname(s) and reserves the rights to modify and revise the nickname(s)
  • Participants agree to transfer the ownership of the names to the School for printing, merchandising, using online, or engaging in any other communication campaigns in the future
  • This Competition is open to the members (staff, students and alumni) of HKU School of Public Health ONLY. Members of the Judging Panel should not join this Competition
  • Each participant can only submit ONCE with a maximum of two entries
  • Entries submitted after the deadline will be not accepted
  • Participants must fill in the correct personal information. All information collected will be used for this Competition only and will be destroyed within three months after the Competition
  • The HKU School of Public Health will not hold responsible for any incorrect, malfunctioning or undeliverable email addresses provided by participants
  • In case of any dispute, the HKU School of Public Health reserves the right of final decision and participants shall not object
  • The HKU School of Public Health reserves the right to modify the regulations and rules without prior notice
  • Participation in this Competition means acceptance of the above terms and conditions of the Competition
