On November 25, 2025, the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong (HKU SPH) and the U.S. National Academy of Medicine (NAM) co-hosted a seminar titled “Beyond Silos: Why Community Engagement is Vital to Redefining Health, Environment, and Resilience”. The session was delivered by Dr Nason Tan, NAM-HKU Fellow in Global Health Leadership (2023/24 cohort), and drew an impressive audience of more than 140 participants.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Dr Victor Dzau, President of NAM, and Professor David Bishai, Director and Clinical Professor of HKU SPH. This was followed by a presentation by Dr Tan, who emphasised the critical role of community engagement in addressing complex health threats. He highlighted how co-production of knowledge and community stewardship can transform data into actionable policies, strengthen resilience, and advance equity and justice.

A lively panel discussion, led by Professor Bishai and moderated by Dr Andrew Park, further explored these themes. The seminar concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where participants actively contributed to the dialogue.
