個人簡介

管軼教授為香港大學新發傳染性疾病國家重點實驗室主任以及流感研究中心主任。其研究集中在流感和其他新發呼吸道病毒的生態、演化和發病機制。管軼博 士的研 究團隊在過去十年中為病毒學研究和中國乃至全世界控制新發傳染病方面作出了傑出貢獻,發表同行評審論文300餘篇,論文引用次數超過36000次,H指數高達92。

管教授在流感方面的研究已1)確定了現時在東南亞、歐洲和非洲地區傳播的H5N1流感病毒的所有主要前體和傳播途徑, 提供了世衞組織提出的大多數大流行前 期H5N1疫苗株;2)開展了H9N2病毒的系統研究,該病毒與H5病毒被視為最可能導致流行病的新流感亞型;3)確定了家鴨在攜帶和傳播流感病毒中的關 鍵作用;4)為識別2009年H1N1流行性病毒的出現、演化史和發展作出了重要貢獻;5)揭示了近期出現的H7N9流感病毒的發生、傳染源、演化過程和可能的傳播途徑。

管教授在SARS方面的工作成功確定了SARS冠狀病毒及其活禽畜市場的傳染源,幫助內地政府成功避免了2004年年初SARS的再次爆發。

管教授近期被評為高引用頻次研究學者(2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018),微生物領域世界排名第11(湯森路透)。他獲得了來自美國國立衞生研究院、威康信託基金會、世衞組織及 本地政府和私人基金會的資助金。美國《時代》雜誌曾兩次報導管教授,稱其為18名「全球衞生英雄』之一和「亞洲英雄」。
