Mrs Baikong Mamid is an Assistant Lecturer at the School of Public Health in the LKS Faculty of Medicine, and a practicum coordinator of the School’s Master of Public Health Programme. Before joining the School in 2022, she had 16 years of communication experience in the field of emergency medical and international humanitarian service. Specialising in policy and politics in global health policy and risk communication, her work addresses global health equity, health behaviour, and rights-based care.

Mrs Mamid also held several positions in international non-government organisations, e.g. she served as a member of the leadership team of Médecins Sans Frontières Hong Kong as Director of Communications. She was actively involved in the community programme of MSF HK and led a team to provide timely and useful health information and education to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic since 2020 and with utmost urgency during the 5^th wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in Hong Kong.

Over the years, she has worked in South Sudan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Swaziland, South Africa, Thailand, and the Philippines, immersed herself in various health challenges of the population in middle- and low-income countries. Mrs Mamid began her career at Oxfam Great Britain, after she obtained her teaching degree at Notre Dame University (Philippines).
