The School of Public Health receives a prestigious research award from AXA Research Fund

Dr Hui-ling Yen, Assistant Professor of the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences of our School, has been awarded a prestigious research award of Euro 250,000 from AXA Research Fund to conduct research on influenza transmission.

The AXA Research Fund is set up to encourage and support research relating to major changes in modern-day society and the associated risks. Serving as the principal investigator, Dr Yen will lead a team of researchers to work on a study entitled "Pandemics in Asia, Early detection and Mitigation: Studies on modes of influenza transmission" in the domain of Pandemic Risk in Asia, a priority theme under the AXA Research Fund.

The study will last for 3 years and its research findings will help elucidate the different modes of influenza transmission and provide important insights for the formulation of pandemic influenza prevention and control strategy for the region.
