The School of Public Health hosted a WHO Consultation Symposium on Non-pharmaceutical Public Health Measures for Mitigating the Risk and Impact of Epidemic and Pandemic Influenza on 26-28 March 2019.

With the aim of developing an evidence-based guidance document to support the global efforts in pandemic preparedness, the Consultation Symposium gathered over 60 international stakeholders to conduct a systematic review on the most up-to-date scientific evidences on the WHO Handbook for Guideline Development and to reach consensus on recommendations. The consultation addressed the feasibility, cost and ethical considerations relevant to this guidance document, and identify remaining gaps for future research and development.
