On April 28, 2026, the School of Public Health of the University of Hong Kong (HKU SPH) and The Bau Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education (BIMHSE) co-hosted a distinguished lecture titled “Pedagogical Innovations and Challenges in Public Health Education in Canada” by Professor Adalsteinn Brown, Dean of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. The event took place at the HKU medical campus and brought together over 40 attendees from the academic and public health community.

The event commenced with opening remarks from Professor Hui-Ling Yen, Interim Director and Professor of HKU SPH, who also moderated the subsequent Q&A session. Professor Brown delivered a comprehensive lecture on how public health education must adapt to an era of "polycrisis", highlighting key competency training challenges. He introduced the Dalla Lana School's innovations in leadership, communications, and critical thinking, emphasising that building trust and equipping students with bridging and coalition-building skills are essential for future public health leadership.

The Q&A session was engaging, featuring insightful questions from the participants, and providing a valuable opportunity for deeper discussion on the challenges and innovations in public health education.
