Biography

Dr CK Leung joined the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong as a Post-doctoral Fellow in 2025. He obtained his Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees from the University of Hong Kong in 2020 and 2025 respectively, and was supported by the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship for his doctoral training.

Dr Leung’s research interests focus on elucidating the effectiveness and sustainability of practical and feasible exercise prescriptions as a public health strategy for prevalent non-communicable diseases, including, obesity, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), sarcopenia, and depression.

Dr Leung has received prestigious awards, including Best Oral Presentation from the Hong Kong Association of Sports Medicine and Sports Science (HKASMSS). Notably, he is honoured to be the first Hong Kong scholar to receive the Young Investigators Award on two occasions - Paris 2023 and Rimini 2025 - from the European College of Sport Science (ECSS), one of the largest exercise science and sports medicine organisations in the world.
